What was the first marathon you ever ran? What year did you run it? Did you have fun that day? Dallas White Rock 2007 – A great day, but crappy weather. Icy rain early and never got out of the upper 30’s! I started running January 1st 2007 and said I was going to run a Marathon in 1 year and I did.

How long have you been a runner and why did you start running? 2 Years, to find a simple joy and lose weight, so I could still eat what I want. – Cookies anyone?

Why did you decide to become a Maniac? Or what inspired you? I am compulsive. I like other compulsive people and needed an outlet as well as inspiration. Plus my co-worker did it and I could not have her out do me! She is Katie Hazlewood #740

Of all the races out there in this world, which one would you most like to run? Gosh, I have to think about it?!?!?! Boston….but Probably the original in Marathon.

If you could run a marathon / ultra accompanied by anyone either living or deceased, who would you choose and why? My late father…He was not a runner, but I miss him and would like to spend that 26.2 miles with him.

What was you most memorable marathon and why? Houston 2009 so far. A PR, and number 3 in 84 days to join the maniacs!

If someone asked you to pick a race for him or her that they could run a PR at, which race would you suggest? Houston! Flat – fairly – well organized and they just shattered a course record in 2009!

What was the furthest you’ve ever traveled for a race? Washington, D.C. for the Marine Corp Marathon. WOW – really well run!

Do any of your non-running friends or family members thing that you’re crazy for running as much as you do? What are some of their comments to you? Absolutely!

If personal obligations or finances were not an issue, how many marathons would you run in one year? I would try for 50, but in reality 25-30!

From what race did you receive your favorite finishers medal? I thought the Marine Corp was good look’in, but I really like my Houston - Chevron

Where do you keep your finisher medals? In a shadow box and draped on said box in family room for now.

Do you wear your race t-shirts? What do you do with the ones you don’t wear? Yep…All I am wearing these days, need more!!!!

If you could put on a marathon anywhere in the world, where would you have it? Good question? There are already so many great marathons that I want to run. I do not think I am qualified to choose yet. I will get back to everyone on this one.

Maniac Yellow, or Maniac Black? I wear yellow for now, but prefer black.

What is your favorite pre race meal? Post race meal? Pre-race is a white sauce based pasta with shrimp the night before. Oatmeal, chicken biscuit, sport drink, 2 hours before. After, was the Benneigans Mont Cristo, until they went out of business!!

What is your energy gel of choice? Sport drink of choice? Powerade Gels – Apple or strawberries and cream. Cytomax for the drink.

Which race would you never run again and why? Have not found one yet, too much of a newbie.

What was the most challenging race or combination of races you’ve ever done and why? 2008 White Rock, due to the extreme wind. Brutal this year.

What is a typical training week like for you? How many miles do you run? Any cross training? I typical run 25 a week when cruising, building to 45 and then tapering for races, usually peaking at 45 three weeks out. I try to ride my bike 26 miles or more on Saturdays in the summer. Going to ride more this year.

Do you have a training partner? If so, who is it? Sometimes with Katie Hazlewood #740, we are co-workers and neighbors, but it is rare, others alone…..I wish I had more training and running partners, it helps.

What kind of shoes do you train in? Do you race in a different shoe? I train in Nike, Brooks and Mizuno. Usually marathoning in Mizuno Wave Riders. By mixing my shoes, my feet muscles always get a different work out and it has kept any other leg pains to a minimum. I really believe in it.

What are your short-term running goals? Stay healthy, stay motivated and stay ready to run a Marathon when I feel like it. If I did not have to work or young children, it would be all the time!

What are your long-term running goals? Run in all 50 states!

Assuming you have time, what do you do for fun other than run marathons? Tinker with cars, ride the bike, play with the wife and kids.

Who is your favorite Beatle and what is your favorite Beatle song?  ???? get back to you on that.
